CUDO'S to our Marketing Representative Roger Weaver!
On October 13, 2001 Roger was
inducted into the “Athletic Hall of Fame”, State University of New York -
College at Oneonta.
Roger
excelled in baseball at Oneonta during his college years 1972-1976.
He was selected as SUNYAC player of the year in 1975 as well as a three
time ALL-SUNYAC. During his stellar four-year career at Oneonta as a pitcher and
an outfielder - he no hit Brooklyn College in 1975.
After
college Roger pursued a professional baseball career.
The Detroit Tigers farm team drafted him in 1976 in the 16th
round. Roger spent five years in
the Tiger’s organization moving up from the farm team in 1980 to pitch in the
major leagues. He made eight
appearances as a relief pitcher without a loss.
Realizing they had a winning pitcher Detroit moved Roger up to a starter.
Playing
at Yankee Stadium had been a life long dream for Roger.
Finally on Saturday October 4, 1980 the dream was a reality
-or maybe it was a nightmare!
What
could have been a long career in the baseball major league was cut short in 1983
when Roger had an injury and could not pitch or play baseball.
IN
1989 Roger came to work for Fulmont Mutual Insurance Co. - working out of the
main office in Johnstown, NY. He has worked in the Underwriting, Loss Control
and Marketing Departments. Roger is currently Manager of the Field
Representative Department and is responsible for marketing and agency
development.
